Strengthen basic observation skills and imaginative thinking.

Explore shapes, colours and storytelling in simple forms.
CREATE
Practise hand–eye coordination through drawing, colouring and mark-making.
EXPRESS
Gain confidence in expressing ideas without fear of making mistakes.
Focus: Building comfort with creative expression, curiosity, and playful exploration.
Stage 1.2
Ages 6–8
Developing Creative Thinking
At this stage, children develop greater focus and begin applying their creativity with more depth.
OBSERVE
Look more closely at form, texture, detail and perspective.
EXPLORE
Find inspiration in their surroundings and learn to develop ideas from what they see.
EXPRESS
Add layers and depth to their compositions and use art to express their ideas and inner self.
DISCOVER
Explore their personality and preferences, beginning to develop the early signs of a personal style.
Focus: Building independence, developing depth in ideas and beginning to shape a personal creative voice.
